I apologise for calling you cisgender. I was irritated and it should’ve occurred to me to look for an about me before replying. I really do apologise for that. Regardless though, what I said still applies. Like, other trans people have been saying for the last year at least to stop using the asterisk when saying trans. So either way, you’re late and uninformed. Trans/transgender is already an umbrella term.
And I did address you directly. I reblogged both of those posts directly from you and called out what I had an issue with. If what you mean by “address me directly” is “don’t call me out in front of everyone else bc i dont want to make a scene or anyone else to know I’m wrong” then no. I won’t address you “directly.”
And I’m not gonna block you bc I’m grown and can do what I want. If you have a problem with me calling you out, whether you think I’m right or not, then block me.
I fucking corrected myself from using the trans term properly, sorry I was uninformed and I honestly did not know that it was a misogynistic word. You should be happy to know that I’m correcting myself, instead of continuing to bash me for a mistake I made.
The race post? Aren’t you continuing to “derail” it then, I am honestly not trying to put attention on myself at all, I am just trying to explain that I hate the systematic oppression of colored people.
Again, you’re personally attacking me. You think that I DONT call racism out on a daily basis? You’re absolutely wrong. I don’t stand for any sort of it, and it’s not your place to tell me that I do.
I am not asking for any fucking recognition I just want people to know my thoughts. I AM IN NO WAY ACTING AS AN ADVOCATE FOR POC I MADE THAT CLEAR IN MY ORIGINAL POST, AND AGAIN ONCE YOU HAD CRITICIZED ME.
I’m not proving to anybody that I am devoted to the cause, I am making a post based on my feelings, and there is nothing wrong with that. I am not distracting from the real issues, I am saying that I recognize that they are present and must be dealt with.
at that in no place but this latest reply did you say anything about not using the asterisk or even acknowledging it as transmisogynistic. you just kept saying “i use the asterisk bc its important to me.” but since you’ve actually acknowledged it instead of arguing as to why you say, then great. case closed.
but you’re trying to say I personally attacked you for calling you out and trying to get you to understand why myself, and several others, had an issue with your post. instead you’re getting mad telling us why we’re wrong and just don’t understand. Like, I don’t doubt that you’re anti-racist. But even white people like yourself and I are complicit in whiteness, regardless of how hard we try. So like i get that you might not see a problem with telling everyone how you, a white person, feels about these injustices is derailing.
ok imagine it like this. you and i and other trans people are having a conversation about trans issues. and suddenly some cis het person goes, “Well just to let y’all know!! I hate transmisogyny and the violence against trans people is despicable!! I’m here for you!! I’m cis and down with the cis” or w/e. We’d all look at that person and be like um…ok… like…you’re an ally, so these things are inherent in your solidarity. You don’t need to reaffirm them UNLESS you’re looking for that validation from black Americans.
That’s what we mean.
Okay that cleared things up a bit. all the news has been really overwhelming, so I’m sure you can understand that I wanted to post that to show support. I’m not saying that I was magically born into a perfect household where 500+ years of racism doesn’t show through at all I’m just trying to fight it as much as possible and it becomes a lot harder when I’m being hypercriticized for expressing myself.

Calling me uninformed because I was trying to include gender groups and hadn’t been updated is unnecessary, and I personally prefer the asterisks because when I identify myself as trans, people automatically assume transgender, whereas I am simply gender fluid, and therefore I think it is important to me.
You may have addressed me directly, but you also were making a lot of assumptions about who I am personally. I have absolutely NO problem being called out in public and in front of followers, based on the idea that I like to develop my points of view and ideologies based on criticism so I can improve as a person.
That’s what I mean when I say, address me directly: don’t make rude assumptions based on a post that are based on the character of someone you don’t know.
ok but. you’re ignoring the fact trans* was created as a way to exclude certain people in the trans community, like trans women. And I can still call you out on this. Just because you’re trans doesn’t mean another trans person can’t call you out. So you can use it for what you want, but you shouldn’t act surprised when people come at you bc, after all, you’re using an inherently transmisogynistic umbrella term.
Second, when it comes to that post about racism, everything I said is still true, too. You created that post basically complaining that black Americans might doubt your solidarity, and instead of proving it with your actions (by that I mean calling out racism on a daily basis, constantly educating yourself and NOT asking for recognition for these things, the list is literally endless with things you can do) you went, “See! I understand the basics, at the very least, so don’t doubt my solidarity to your cause!!” And you still posted it in all those tags, and as a white person you’re DERAILING the conversation and putting the attention on yourself. It reaffirms whiteness. Like literally. lol

I know, I am white,
But I am also angry as hell that our society is still the way it is based on systems of racial oppression, and that North America was built on black slavery.
I am furious that rich white European “Americans” thought that anybody with darker skin was not worthy, and that they were to be slaves.
I am absolutely furious that caucasians use the n-word casually, because they have no clue behind the history and meaning of it.
I am absolutely furious that PoC are still being oppressed in this present day and age, and their stories and anger and wishes for change are being so radicalized by white media. What is so radical about equality?
I am absolutely furious that so many innocent lives have been lost over race, yet many (white) people attribute it to “suspicious behaviour”, and since when is wearing a hoodie suspicious? (Trayvon Martin).
I am furious that many (white) people believe that reverse racism is real. Racism is built on a system of oppression, white people are not oppressed.
I am furious that people say “not everything is a race issue” when they have been seeing the horrible things across the United States based on the oppression of African Americans, because IT IS A RACE ISSUE.
I know, I am white, but please don’t tell me I don’t care.
I will never understand what it is like to grow up as a person of colour, but I care with all my heart and soul, and want the racist structures in society to come crashing down.
You know you can want the racist structures in society to come crushing down WITH OUT making a self congratulatory post about it.
how am I making it self congratulatory? elaborate please and thank you.

I was in NYC for a school trip last week, which was cool, but also drove me crazy being around some of the people from my school.
There was a girl on the trip who I consider a good friend of mine who recently discovered drag queens, through various sources like buzzfeed, and whatnot. She thought they were awesome performers, which they totally are, and developed a sort of obsession over them (which is still cool and whatever but keep that in mind).
So we’re standing outside Forever 21 in the middle of SoHo, and this trans woman walks by, which is nothing new. The girl I was with looks at her in awe and says “Oh my God I wish I could see him in full drag!”
At that moment I swear my brain snapped and I got so angry, for a number of reasons..
1) In one sentence, she misgendered the woman, referring to her as a “him”
2) She demonstrated her poor understanding of what drag performers are, because they do their hair, make up and costume for a show. They tend NOT to walk around SoHo midday dressed in trackpants and a crop top
3) She grouped an entire gender identity together, thinking that all trans people, specifically women, are drag queens
4) Let’s say, that the trans woman WAS a drag performer… they would then be a drag king (most likely) because drag is performing as a gender that differs from your own
5) When I tried to tell her that the woman wasn’t a drag queen, she was a trans woman and that could be considered really offensive, she rolled her eyes and continued to announce to all our friends that she had seen a “real life drag queen”
6) She contributed to a system of basic misunderstanding of gender identity and expression by perpetuating stereotypes and offensive misconceptions about trans individuals and the practice of drag
UGH just really irritated me.

Just for the record, this is my opinion, and not to be taken out of context. Please ask me if you have any questions or want to clear anything up. I don’t want information being spread incorrectly, or offend anybody who has a differing opinion.
Trigger Warning - This post contains mentions of sexual abuse. I have tagged it as well, but please only read further at your own risk.
Hey! I’m really happy to hear that you call yourself a feminist! Gender rights are really important in this day and age and it makes me happy to see that more people are openly calling themselves feminists because the name often has negative connotations, which is ridiculous, to be honest.
In all honesty, I think the phrase “Not All Men” could be really powerful, because it is absolutely true that not all men, for example, catcall women, sexually harass them, subtly oppress them, etc.
I personally know a great number of males who are less sexist, and more focussed on choice and equality than many females I know.
I also think that “Not All Men” could be a really great start for men supporting each other in a feminist way. For example, supporting men of different colours and cultures, trans* men, disabled men, LGBTQ men, etc. would be a really excellent cause! The systematic oppression of women in our society and the cultural pressures associated with being “masculine” and “manly” affects men as well as every other gender.
Where it becomes really touchy is the way that it is most commonly used, which is a joke for those who express their concerns about feminism publicly, and to dismiss instances of sexism and oppression by stating that “Not All Men” engage in these types of behaviour.
It is obvious that not all men are sexist, but all men (everybody, in fact) are part of the sexist society in which we live and are fighting to change.
What I think really bothers people about this “Not All Men” phrase is that it is a joke being used to completely ignore legitimate concerns that people are having based on a man’s actions.
For example, if somebody came up to you and said, “I was just raped by a man. I really hate that man for doing that to me.” - They are not saying that they hate all men. They hate the man who committed the offense, and they hate the structure of the society that raised many men to believe they are entitled to others’ bodies.
Hopefully, your response would be to report the incident to the police, help the victim seek medical attention for physical and mental assistance, and be the best support you can be for somebody that this happens to.
Your response wouldn’t be, “Yeah, but I didn’t rape you, so you can’t blame me.”
And this is where the “Not All Men” really begins to become a slap in the face: when women, men, non binary, and trans* people are in serious circumstances that could have been avoided had our society not been built on a system of oppression based on sex and gender, and somebody responds by becoming defensive of themselves because “Not All Men” would have done that, they are protecting the perpetrator by writing it off as a completely random event, when, in actuality, incidents such as sexual assault, harassment and abuse are one of the most common and underreported cases in the world. I would be willing to bet that one of the reasons these cases are so underreported is because the victim doesn’t want the response to their plea being something as arrogant as the phrase “Not All Men” has turned out to be.
This is a really great article written by Sarah Jaffe explaining how “it is not all men – but it is enough of them”.
I hope this clears up what I believe is wrong with the concept of “Not All Men” and again, if you have any questions, please ask me before you jump to conclusions.
