please message me if you are a trans man / trans woman, I have a really amazing friend doing really awesome interviews for her independent study assignment for a class, and wants to hear from those who have transitioned / are planning on transitioning and it would be amazing if we could help her out. she wants the world to be better for everyone, let’s help her!!
REPEAT AFTER ME:
NOT ALL TV SHOWS NEED 25 OF THE SAME STRAIGHT CHARACTERS.
WE NEED MORE QUEER CHARACTERS.
WE NEED MORE TRANS CHARACTERS.
WE NEED MORE LEGITIMATE REPRESENTATION IN MAINSTREAM ENTERTAINMENT.
WE NEED THE WRITERS OF SHOWS TO USE THE WORD BISEXUAL WHEN IT APPLIES INSTEAD OF COMMITTING BI-ERASURE AND ALTERNATING CHARACTERS BETWEEN GAY AND STRAIGHT. (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK IM LOOKING AT YOU)
WE NEED TO SEE AROMANTIC AND ASEXUAL CHARACTERS WHO ARENT RIDICULED AS IF SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THEM. (BIG BANG THEORY IM LOOKING AT YOU)
WE NEED THE NORMALIZATION OF QUEER INDIVIDUALS ON TV AND IN MOVIES TO HELP COMBAT TRANSPHOBIA AND HOMOPHOBIA.
WE NEED CHARACTERS WE CAN RELATE TO. THAT IS ALL WE NEED.

I apologise for calling you cisgender. I was irritated and it should’ve occurred to me to look for an about me before replying. I really do apologise for that. Regardless though, what I said still applies. Like, other trans people have been saying for the last year at least to stop using the asterisk when saying trans. So either way, you’re late and uninformed. Trans/transgender is already an umbrella term.
And I did address you directly. I reblogged both of those posts directly from you and called out what I had an issue with. If what you mean by “address me directly” is “don’t call me out in front of everyone else bc i dont want to make a scene or anyone else to know I’m wrong” then no. I won’t address you “directly.”
And I’m not gonna block you bc I’m grown and can do what I want. If you have a problem with me calling you out, whether you think I’m right or not, then block me.
Okay that cleared things up a bit. all the news has been really overwhelming, so I’m sure you can understand that I wanted to post that to show support. I’m not saying that I was magically born into a perfect household where 500+ years of racism doesn’t show through at all I’m just trying to fight it as much as possible and it becomes a lot harder when I’m being hypercriticized for expressing myself.
i probably should’ve given you that analogy from the beginning but I didn’t think about it until then. that’s why its important to do a lot of reading about racism outside of posts/news posts on tumblr. it also helps to follow the right people. tumblr user medicine is someone who is good to follow, and you’ll find other good people to follow through them that have v good posts.
I really do appreciate the criticism because you’re helping me see other sides to things that I haven’t heard of / been exposed to. thanks, enjoyed the banter.
